First Commute of January 2013

Light traffic heading into the city today on the first working day of 2013. This photo was taken at a stop light on Keelung Road between National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Institute of Technology. By law, scooters stay to the right, particularly at stop lights.

Near my office, I park in a space on the sidewalk. It's a twenty minute ride from home in the suburbs. Here you can see scooters splitting the lanes, riding to the left and right of cars in the right lane.

On my way home at noon, I stopped at a large repair shop in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, for my scooter's 1000km oil change. The price depends on the quality of oil you choose. I get the middle-range oil and pay approximately $8.50. The mechanic also adjusts the rear brake and oils the brake levers. The scooters in the foreground are for sale. The tires on the wall range from $30 to $100 depending on size and quality. That's my ride on the nearest lift.
